Being a keen observant commentator, Pepys captures a diverting account of political intrigues along with the church, naval, and cultural affairs. The diary is also a detailed description of daily life in London during the Restoration. According to his diary, Pepys was a witness to the Great Plague of 1665, the coronation of Charles II, and the Great Fire of 1666.
