Hereditary by Mary Fortune is about Archie Hopeton and his friend Mark who go to Archie's aunt's house for Christmas dinner. Mark consequently falls in love with Archie's forbidding yet bewitching young cousin. I say dashed, for scarcely any other word would effectually describe his abrupt and sudden entrance; and, as such a manner was rather unusual with him, I looked up at him in wondering inquiry."
