'Tortoises' is a collection of poems written by D. H. Lawrence inspired by the titular animal. Lawrence, the author, was an English writer best known for these novels: Sons and Lovers, The Rainbow, Women in Love, and Lady Chatterley's Lover, which notably concerned gay and lesbian relationships, and were the subject of censorship trials.
